If the color changes
Start with what changed, not with panic.
It looks dull or cloudy？
Usually product residue, skin oil, soap film, sunscreen, or hard-water minerals. Use the cloth first. For buildup around a stone setting, use lukewarm water, a tiny amount of mild soap, and a very soft toothbrush.
It looks yellow, blue, brown, or black？
On sterling silver, that is often tarnish, especially after sulfur-heavy water, hot springs, rubber, perfume, or humidity. Tarnish is a surface reaction, not proof that the piece is fake or ruined.
The gold tone looks lighter or patchy？
That may be plating wear on high-friction areas like ring bands, chain clasps, and places that rub against skin or clothing. If it happens before year five, email us at service@alexcraft.com. That is covered.
My skin has a green or gray mark？
Usually a reaction between moisture, skin products, and metal under a worn or exposed surface. It washes off skin. If it keeps happening with an Alexcraft piece, send us two photos and your order number at service@alexcraft.com.

925 Sterling Silver
- Rinse after mineral-heavy water.

Natural Stones
- Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing.
- Keep away from harsh cleaners and heat.
- Store separately from harder metal edges.
Moissanite
- Use mild soap and lukewarm water for buildup.
- Brush gently around settings.
- Dry completely to avoid water spots.

Perfume, lotion, sunscreen, hair spray, and makeup should go on first.
02 Rinse after the hard stuff
Pool, ocean, hot tub, hot spring, or sulfur-heavy well water? Rinse with clean water and pat dry.
03 Wipe it when it looks less bright
Focus on clasps, chain curves, ring backs, and stone settings.
04 Store it where it will not rub
A pouch, a small dish, or a clean tray beats keys, coins, and tangled chains.

Can I use an ultrasonic or ammonia-based cleaner?
We don't recommend it, as these cleaners can be too harsh for some finishes. A gentle wipe with a soft cloth is a safer option.
