Jewelry Care

Built to stay on.

Our pieces are made for a day you don't take off for.
Here's what actually helps.

The honest version

Most jewelry care pages tell you to take your jewelry off constantly. We're going to tell you something different.

You can sleep in it.
You can shower in it.

Our plating is built for daily wear — not for a glass case. The one thing that shortens color over time? Shampoo, conditioner, body wash. They're not as gentle as they smell. Rinse your jewelry off after a wash, or tuck your necklace out of the way when you shampoo.

The rest is just common sense.

Four habits worth keeping
01
Put it on after your skincare

Let perfume, lotion, and sunscreen dry first. Products sitting wet on metal are the main reason plating fades early.

02
Rinse after the pool or ocean

Chlorine and saltwater are a different story from regular water. Rinse off after, or take your piece off for the swim.

03
Wipe it down occasionally

The jewelry cloth in your package is all you need — a soft wipe around closures and stone settings keeps things looking fresh.

04
Store it somewhere it won't tangle

A pouch, a small dish, a clean corner of your nightstand. Not loose with keys and coins — that's how scratches happen.

14K Gold Plating
All pieces

Every ALEXCRAFT piece is plated in 14K gold — on eco-friendly brass or 925 sterling silver, depending on the style.

Every piece goes through a multi-layer process before the final gold goes on — each layer bonding to the one beneath it. Better adhesion from the start means the color has somewhere to hold.

What it doesn't love: prolonged contact with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. If your piece starts to look dull, use the cloth from your package first.

Natural Stones
Quartz · Agate · Onyx

Genuine stones — quartz, aventurine, tiger's eye, onyx, agate, mother of pearl. Each slightly different, because that's what real stones do.

A soft, barely damp cloth is all they need. No soaking, no harsh cleaners. Keep them away from sudden heat and chemicals.

Freshwater Pearl
Handle gently

Pearls are more delicate than stone or metal. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing — especially after contact with skin for a long time.

Avoid water, perfume, and anything acidic. Store separately so they don't get scratched by metal pieces.

Moissanite
Low maintenance

Lab-grown, nearly as hard as a diamond. Falls asleep on you? That's fine. A wipe with the cloth keeps it sparkling.

Wax Cord
Some styles

Cord can absorb oils and soaps over time. A light hand-wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, then air dry completely before wearing again.

A few things people actually ask us.
Can I shower in it?

Yes — that's what it's built for. Just rinse off any shampoo or conditioner that gets on it. Daily exposure to those will dull the plating over time; plain water won't.

Can I sleep in it?

Yes. No caveats.

Can I work out in it?

Yes. Sweat is fine. Rinse after if you want, but it's not required.

My piece looks a little dull.

Start with the jewelry cloth from your package. If it's more significant fading and you're within 5 years of purchase, email us. That's covered.

Do I need a special cleaner?

No. The cloth handles almost everything. For buildup around a stone setting, a soft toothbrush with mild soap and lukewarm water — then dry completely.

My pearl looks different from the photo.

That's normal. Each freshwater pearl keeps its own natural luster. Small variations are not a flaw — that's what makes yours yours.

Still, we've got you.

Most care pages are written so brands can point to them and say "you didn't follow the instructions." Ours isn't.

Clasp fails. Stone loosens. Plating fades before it should. Email us two photos and your order number — no explanations needed.
